My own visits are not being measured

Pirsch is measuring traffic by other visitors, but my own visits are not being tracked. I’ve confirmed that my browser is successfully sending data to https://api.pirsch.io/hit on each visit. I’m not using a VPN.

Is it possible that my IP address is being classified as a bot by Pirsch?

Not a big deal, it’s not like I need to record my own visits in my stats. I’m just curious why this is happening, and if it has any implication for the accuracy of stats as a whole (is other legitimate traffic going unmeasured too?)

P.S. I am happy to privately share my IP address and the domain that is being tracked, if it will assist with investigating.

Hi Jonathan,

Your traffic might be blocked as bot traffic indeed. Could you share your IP address with me? Via DM or send it to support@pirsch.io, and I’ll take a look

There are other factors that might play a role:

  • Very outdated browsers might be blocked
  • User-Agents that are invalid/look suspicious might be blocked
  • If you made many requests, you might end up on our spam list (for example, if you run a crawler on your own site or a bunch of our customer sites)
  • Probably a few more I forgot

But the false-positive IP address check is the most likely reason.
